Coach Zorn. We know you have been placed into an impossible situation. Your players know this. Redskins Nation knows this. Our front office first decided that they should hire coordinators before the head coach... (What other football organization operates like that?) Then you were picked after everyone else turned Snyder and Cerrato down.
I have so much trouble watching your press conferences and other media appearances. You shoulder most of the blame, like a real leader should, when most of it belongs to Snyder and Vinny (you didn't even apply for the job!). Now I hear Vinny wants someone else to call his plays. I know you won't retort with what you're thinking -- Can I have someone else to pick my players? We here at FANEXODUS will though. Snyder and Cerrato refused the players call to publicly support you, they brought in Sherman Lewis to watch you, and now they want to strip you of play calling.
Coach, I think you should realize that the Redskins organization is poisonous, and leave before this circus is over (Sally Jenkins recommended this first). I would step down now, and let Snyder and Cerrato attempt to fix their mess. We the fans won't blame you. Just hire a financial advisor, you probably don't even need to work again.
Quite frankly, it's unfair to you, your family, and I'd get out now before Snyder and Cerrato finish putting you through the grinder. Turn it upside down on them, and quit while they don't expect it. Normally that would be career suicide, but seriously, would anyone else in the NFL hold it against you?
Zorn you are a class act, we salute you, and won't blame you for leaving. You're not the problem with this organization.

What are the financial implications for Zorn if he quits? I wonder if his contract is written in such a way that he'd not see another cent from Snyder if he did. Man, I feel bad for the guy. Growing up in Seattle, I watched his entire QB career for the Seahawks. Great guy. With the 'Skins, he's in over his head, but also has zero support from Snyderrato and a distinctly mediocre roster to work with.
ReplyDeletejim, i know from a financial perspective u must hang in there and do what vinny and danny "suggest". just play it out....i would for 3 million bucks. but know that we the fans dont blame you for this mess. we know that you were force fed this setup from the very beginning and that you did it for your love of the profession and your desire to be a head coach. on the other hand jim ....u are not the answer at this time either. so do what you need to do for your financial security and your family and let sherman call the plays. this is just another attempt from an owner who is incapable of admitting his own limitations and inadequacies, and the v.p./g.m., who is in effect a yes man, whos job is to stroke the richer mans ego and not talk back, to deflect attention from themselves and thier own failures and put the responsibility on you.
ReplyDeleteWell, the only thing I would say about Coach Jim Zorn stepping down (and I'm sure he knows this) - don't. Let the prick fire you, so you can continue to get paid. He's a F'ing lousy, horrible owner and person to work for on every level - employees hate him, vendors hate him, and now years of loyal fans F'ing hate the D-BAG. Suck every dime you can out of this A-Hole. He's done the same to fans and vendors, so do the same to him.
ReplyDeleteCompletely disagree with most of the above. While I agree that Snyder and Cerrato have much to do with the current state of the franchise, Jim Zorn is responsible for much of the product we are seeing each Sunday. I don't care if Zorn is forced to trot Westfields High School's varsity team out to play each weekend- the play calling has been nothing short of atrocious. Worse, Zorn has exhibited a smarmy, petulant attitude towards the DC sports media (not that I have any love for them) and the fans. Zorn thinks he is God's gift to the West Coast Offense, but he's really just a flat terrible playcaller. Don't believe me? Take it from a Hall of Famer:
