From now on, we'll periodically post new fan "actions" on the Action page. Whatever Redskins fans are deciding to do in any given week, we'll post it so you know about it. As you know, we're looking for ways to harness the power of numbers against Snyder's bottom line.
The first action we posted is a boycott suggested on ESPN 980 by columnist and author John Feinstein. Click the ACTION tab to see it. We think it's a good idea, and if you have good ideas for the following weeks, feel free to post them as comments to this post so we can keep track of them. We'll publish the ideas that are appropriate and seem to have widespread support from fans. Also, if public figures endorse specific actions, we'll certainly be considering those as well.
So keep it civil -- but if you have any ideas, share them as comments on this post.

I like that you are going after his bottom line. Walkouts and the like will never work because Danny doesn't feel the pain. Not buying drinks, food, or merchandise is a good idea. So is a boycott of the Redskins sponsors: FedEx, Geico, StubHub, Canon, Papa John's, Virginia Lottery, Bank of America, SIx Flags, Johnny Rockets, and Home Depot.
ReplyDeleteBoycotts are better than walkouts, I agree. Especially because I think the walkouts would be a strike against the players more than the owner.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with boycotts of sponsor companies, however. I don't think that's fair -- they're just advertising. Their main business does not deal with football; they're just using football as a medium to sell products. They'd be sponsors whether they liked the way Snyder runs things or not.
Greg, I see your point, but there are many different ways for them to advertise their products. They choose sponsoring the Redskins because they believe that it will create goodwill for them, when in fact they are only helping to support the man who has ruined this franchise. Let them sponsor another team, or buy more tv time, or do any of a million different things that doesn't entrench Snyder as owner.
ReplyDeleteall area fans need to call local sports talk shows--and those out of the area call Sirus NFL Radio in afternoons w Adam Shein & Riggo and state" Boycott Dan Synder until he gets out of the way!! Go to www.fanexodus.com and join the movement! we love the team, jsut greatly dislike the way it is being managed--fix it Mr Synder! until you do, NO MAS!!"
